Lt. Jeff Bledsoe provides medical attention to a Turkish girl in a Navy medical tent in Izmit, Turkey, on Aug. 25, 1999. The young girl was injured in the earthquake that hit Western Turkey in the early morning hours of Aug. 17, 1999. Bledsoe, a Navy operating room nurse, is part of a 22-person medical team deployed from Naples, Italy, to Turkey to aid victims of the recent earthquake as part of Operation Avid Response. Avid Response is the military contribution to relief efforts following the earthquake.
