The War Depart-ment has built a line to connect all the military posts in theTerritory. This line passes through Phoenix, Wickenburg,Florence and other towns, and joins them with the WestcrnUnion. Globe is connected by a wire with San Carlos, built andowned by a private corporation. At the latter place it joins themilitary line from Wilcox, on the Southern Pacific. Clifton hasa line to Lordsburg, owned by the Arizona Copper line has been built along the Atlantic and Pacific by the com-pany, but is entirely devoted to their private business. Thetelephone has been introduced in Arizona, and is in general usein Tombstone and Tucson, and connects the principal mines,their reduction works and ofifices, in all parts of the SCHOOLS, CHURCHES AND SOCIETY. Believing in the axiom that infree schools rests the safety of republican institutions, they havelaid broad and deep the foundations for public instruction, andtake a pardonable pride in the success which has attendedtheir effort
