In cities a good deal of attention is usually given to suchmatters, and laws exist, with government officers to administerthem, for the protection and promotion of com- c ^m ..munity beauty. In rural communities these mat- interest inters are left more largely to individual initiative eau yand voluntary cooperation. It becomes a matter of publicinterest and spirit on the part of the individual and the An Attractive Rural Schoolhouse It is true that some things are done through government authori-ties, as in the improvement of the roads and the building ofbridges and culverts that are of pleasing design as well as serv-iceable.
