In Scandinavian (Norse) mythology, Freya, also spelled Freyja, was the goddess of fertility, love and marriage, and light and peace. Her brother was Freyr. When Freya putting wore Brisingamen, the necklace had the dwarfs make for her, no man or god could withstand her charms. Myths said she rode in a chariot pulled by two black cats, as seen here, in this early 1900s illustration. The cats were a gift from the Norse god Thor.
