After a strenuous fall season the nurserymen in general are taking things easy and many are on their vacations. The ])rinci])al work during the winter iiiontlis is grafting and making wood cuttings and grading lining-out stock. About February 15 orders will begin to arrive from the southern states and from then on until June 1') it will be one continuous drill, with no interval of rest. The Painesville Garden & Greenhouse Co. had an excellent crop of lettuce for the holiday trade. E. H. Hawley, man- ager of the concern, says business never was better. Kohert George, Jr., of the I'niversity of Illinois, spent the holidays with his jtarents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. George, of the Storrs & Harrison Co.
