ABOARD USS BOXER (LHD 4) – Marines from 81mm Platoon, TRAP Section, Weapons Company, Battalion Landing team 1/4, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, carry a simulated casualty to a waiting CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter while on a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft Personnel (TRAP) training exercise during Operation Tropic Thunder on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii, Aug. 31, 2013. A TRAP involves searching for, recovering and administering medical aid if needed to a downed pilot. The Marines and Sailors with 13th MEU will deploy for several months in support of theater requirements of Geographic Combatant Commanders.
