Eighth Avenue (Eighth Avenue in English) is a north-south oriented main avenue that runs along the west side of Manhattan in New York. Its direction of circulation until 59th Street is north. It is one of the original avenues of the Commissioners Plan of 1811 that would run the entire length of the island, although today its name changes twice.
