He was born at Lime Rock, February 13,1849, and was educated principally at the RockyDell Institute in his native village, under thecharge of Mr. J. H. Hurlburt. For a short timealso he attended the Edwards Place School atStockbridge, Mass. Since his twenty-first yearhe has been engaged in the management of im-portant interests of the Barnuni-Riehardson Com-pany and other corporations.
