Cornwall Collisium Carlyon Bay

Built in the 1930's, the Cornwall Collisium has seen many changes. It has staged boxing, housed an indoor funfair and has been a venue for some of the biggest rock and pop bands in the world. Radio One held its Roadshow there and WOMAD was a regular event. there was a swimming pool, restuarants, nightclubs, amusment arcades, a nudist beach (opened by Freddie Starr) and a mile and a quarter of sand. Currently the site is being redeveloped to provide 500 luxury apartments and a hotel, restaurants etc., marking the end of an era for the area, but promising new jobs and facilities for the St Austell.
