City gate of Philip V in Ronda, Spain
After the collapse of the first new bridge in 1741, a new city entrance was planned in order to improve the transit of people and merchandise. The ancient Arab Gate of the Bridge was enlgarged and replaced by the current gate during the reign of the first Bourbon king of Spain, Philip V, in 1742, as mentioned on the stone located next to the arch. This emblematic monument of the city consists of one stone arch with three pinacles at its top and decorated with the coats of arms of the Duke of Anjou and the Bourbons.
