Palestinian Intifadah Graffiti on the wall on small street in Old Jerusalem,1991, near the end of the First Intifadah,1987–1993, centered on Israel taking land and starting settlement construction in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Israeli military response to Palestinian protests to Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and the flash point in December of 1987 when a Israeli vehicle struck two passenger vans carrying Palestinians, four Palestinians died in the accident and it became the Palestinian belief that the accident was an act of revenge for the stabbing of an Israeli citizen in Gaza days before the accident. The First Intifadah ended with the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993. According to an Israeli human right organization, about 2,000 deaths occurred as a result of the first Intifadah.
