Despite a ban on wheelie cases in May 2015, tourists are often defying the ban in Venice in northern Italy. Tourists could be fined up to €500 for disobeying the new law. Venetians are exempt. Local residents have complained to the local authorities of noise pollution the wheelie cases make particularly at night and early mornings. Also, a wheelie case does wear and tear the old city’s delicate streets and bridges.
