DC, SYSTEMATIC PALEONTOLOGY Introduction The basis for the preparation of this paper has been the combined collections of the Naturhistorisches Mu- seum Basel and Tulane University. All of the figured specimens of Cuspidariidae and Verticordiidae derived from these collections are deposited in the Naturhis- torisches Museum Basel. It was originally planned to examine and retigure the type specimens of all the spe- cies of Cuspidariidae and Verticordiidae occurring in the Dominican Republic Neogene as well as the type specimens of species which were most important for comparative purposes.
