Bridge over River Tarn E11 A75 France by Lord Norman Robert Foster


Millau Viaduct Project architect Lord Norman Robert Foster on the A75 autoroute between Paris and Barcelona. This Cable-Stayed Bridge Project was completed in 2004. The project was financed privately. It has the highest bridge piers in world. Thus the title of the Highest Bridge in the World. The tallest pier is be 240 metres high. Overall height an outstanding metres slightly taller than the Eiffel Tower and only 38 m (125 ft) shorter than the Empire State Building. There are seven separate cable-stays. It was formally dedicated on 14 December 2004 and opened to traffic two days later.
