Valley was far short of the demand, even at the unusual prices of $6, $7 and $8 per hundred. Cattleyas also were high; $1 each was readily obtained for well colored blooms and for those of good size, while light-colored as well as smaller flowers brought $9 per dozen. Gardenias were in fair demand at from $')0 to $3 per dozen; the poorer flowers were not wanted. There were lots and lots of snap- dragons, fine stock that fully equaled the demand. Double tulips did ])retty well, but the single tulips arc not suita- ble for wliolesaling. They belong to the class of flowers that do l)cst when re- tailed direct by the grower.
