The northern half of thewest wall of St. Faiths was at the same time piercedby a large four-light Perpendicular window with benchalong the sill, similar to the others in the cloister 2 This is a hamlet south of Oving, which gives its name to a prebendal stall inthe Cathedral. 3 The next window (not shown on plan) was originally a large open archway, aswas also the corresponding one on the west side. For the west wall of theshortened chapel was provided a solid, rather plain,closed oak screen, pierced by a pointed doorway, whichhas been well restored. The old west door of the chapel,a Decorated composition with much-worn head corbels tothe dripstone, was inserted in the south wall so as to leadfrom the corner of the Cloisters to the dark cloister thatleads to the Vicars Close. This is now closed by an iron gate, but the Act Bookof the Chapter, under date 1786 (May) has the followingentry: Whereas many base and disorderly Persons arewont to get into the Cloysters in the Evening & in theNight Time, and Whereas Mr John
