SANTA RITA, Guam (July 20, 2021) - Santa Rita Mayor Dale Alvarez offers remarks during the Sumay Memorial ceremony on Naval Base Guam (NBG) July 20. The ceremony recollected the pre-war village of Sumay, a thriving hub of commerce before it was bombed in World War II. The vil- lage was utilized as a Japanese garrison before the liberation of the island by armed forces at the end of World War II in 1944.
