Orlan spacesuit gloves. The Orlan spacesuit, first used in space in 1977, is a semi-rigid spacesuit designed and built by the Russian company NPP Zvezda. They are used for extra-vehicular activity (EVA, spacewalks). Countries using this spacesuit include Russia, China and the USA, as well as astronauts from Europe. The name Orlan is the Russian word for 'sea eagle'.
