The Caihuashan Festival is a prime opportunity for Yunnans Miao people to dress up. This image shows two young girls in a full outfit. The Caihuashan is a major festival of the Miao people in southern Yunnan. It heralds the begin of spring and is an occasion for members of the opposite sex to meet and find a partner. Dances, beauty competitions and displays of courage and strength are all part of the events that stretch a couple of days at the beginning of the Chinese lunar year.
