Charyn canyon and peek view at the Charyn River, Kazakhstan


In East Kazakhstan, near the Chinese Border, there is an mini Grand Canyon with interesting rock formations. Charyn (Sharyn) Canyon was formed by the action of the Charyn River rushing down from the Tian Shan mountains through the sedimentary red sandstone of the area. The canyon is around 80 km long and up to 300 m deep.
