The tail is long, arched, much roundedat the end, of twelve stifF-shafted acuminate feathers, of whichthe lateral is eight-twelfths shorter than the middle. Fig. The upper mandible and the extremity of the lower aredusky-brown, the basal portion of the latter whitish ; the irideshazel; the feet pale flesh-colour tinged with brown, the clawslight yellowish-grey. The upper part of the head is dark-brown, with linear-oblong brownish-white streaks ; the rest ofthe upper parts light brown, with similar streaks, the featherson the rump becoming dull yellowish-brown. The smallwing-coverts are variegated with dusky, light brown, andbrownish-white; the primary coverts blackish-brown, with awhitish spot at the tip ; the secondary coverts lighter, with alarger whitish spot at the end, but only on the outer web. Thequills are dusky, but the inner pale greyish-brown on the innerweb, dusky on part of the outer ; all except the outer three havea whitish spot at the end; the w^ing is crossed by a band ofpale brownish-yellow, which, however, does not include theouter three quills or the inner three secondaries ; the outerwebs of most of the quills are light ye
