Phlegrean Fields, Campania, Italy. The Aragonese castle. It was built by Alfonso II of Aragona king of Naples in 1495 and enlarged by the Spanish viceroy Don Pedro Álvarez de Toledo between 1538 and 1550. The fortress overlooking the sea defends the Gulf of Naples in the east.
