Moored small pleasure boats. River Exe at Exmouth. Devon. XPL 4805-451

Neither sleepy nor exploited, Exmouth has been a popular resort since the eighteenth century. Exmouth is a healthy thriving town that is proud to be a holiday destination, however it lacks the commercialised look of a town dependent upon tourism alone. Our two miles of golden sand and moderate climate obviously make the town a good choice for families seeking a traditional beach holiday; but Exmouth has more:- The estuary of the beautiful River Exe is renowned nationally and beyond as a site of special scientific interest and an important habitat for wading and migrating birds. As a site of pilgrimage for ornithologists it receives many visitors the whole year round. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect from Devon, gently rolling hills and valleys, green fields with sheep and cows. Pretty villages with thatched cottages waiting to be found and explored. The East Devon coast is part of the internationally important Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. This is of great significance to anyone with an interest in geology either amateur of professional. Exmouth, is a moderately sized resort nestling in the corner of East Devon formed by the River Exe and the sea. The town is bounded to the north and east by open countryside, heathland and farmland . Exmouth'sChristmas lights do so much to enhance the town at this time of year. Exmouth is the western gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
