Saul Steinberg (1914-1999) in New York City, 1965. Steinberg was a Romanian-American artist whose drawings and cartoons appeared in The New Yorker magazine, among other places. His paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures tend towards witty and ironic treatments of socio-political foibles or metaphysical quandries, and often rely on visual puns for impact.
