Morton's neuroma. Light micrograph of a section through a Morton's neuroma from a patient's foot. Morton's neuroma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumour of the plantar nerve in the foot that can cause pain and numbness. Symptoms can be relieved by the use of orthotics to relieve pressure, and corticosteroid injections.
