George, born 1819, late Major Sutherland Highlanders, married, in 1853, Anne-Lucy, only surviving daughterof Baldwin Wake, grandson of Sir Wil-liam Wake, Baronet, of Courteen Hall,Northamptonshire, by whom he had twosons, (1) Alexander-David, of whom after-wards. (2) William-George, died unmarriednth August 1829. 5. William-Skene, died 23rd July 6. Isabella, died unmarried 1st July1845. 7. Anne, died an infant in ;s^/ 8. Jessy-Jane, died unmarried, at Pisa, 19th February 1831. Alexander Seton of Mounie, J. P. and , died at Leamington, 16th April1850, in the eighty-first year of his age, when he was succeeded by hiseldest surviving son, 5. Alexander Seton of Mounie, born 1815, and at the time of his succession a Major in the 74th High-landers. He was appointed Assistant-Deputy-Quartermaster-General tothe Forces in Ireland, in 1849, and resigned that office, on promotion, thefollowing year. Major Seton obtained the command of the 74th regiment,in succession to Lieutenant-Colonel Fordyce, in November 1851. In thebeginning of January 1852, as Colonel Seton, he was directed to take thecommand of several detachments of troops, who were under orders to pro-ceed in steamship Birkenhead to the Cape of Good Hope, where awar with the Kafirs was being carried on.
