Looking north west along Offa’s Dyke Path beside Moel Arthur Hill Fort to Penycloddiau on summit of far hill. Penycloddiau Hill Fort, straddles the ridge between the Vale of Clwyd to the west and Wheeler Valley to the east. It is one of the largest hill forts in Wales covering 21 hectares/52 acres of heather & bilberry-covered hill top. Its defenses are mainly a single bank with internal quarry ditch and counter scarp, but there are up to four banks at the north and north east. There is an original in-turned entrance at the south where the Offa's Dyke Path enters the fort. Offa's Dyke Path national trail passes through middle of the fort and the county boundary between Denbighshire and Flintshire runs along its west side.
