B‰rsana, Maramures, Romania - 15 October 2018 B‰rsana houses a famous group of wooden Orthodox churches and monsateries in Maramures County in Transylvania, Romania. Built in the traditional Romanian style from the 17th to 19th Century, they were a national response to the prohibition against the erection of stone Orthodox churches by the Hapsburg - and Catholic - Austro-Hungarian authorities.
