At that time, every-thing was viewed couleur de rose; population was gaining rapidly,and much more in the way of productivity was expected of certaindistricts than was subsequently realized. It is, therefore, not quitefair to judge of the wisdom of constructing some of the branches ofthe Colorado railroad system from the standpoint of later expe-rience.
