Another memorial in this Lhiiversity, is a lib-rary of Germanic Literature to the memory of Preetorius, in recognition of his deep interestin the library, and his work in behalf of Germanliterature, ideals and journalism in this city. One Hundred Thousand Dollars is beingraised as an additional endowment to meet theincreasing demands necessary for raising the standard of this institution S/l/NT LOUIS 77. Concordia Seminary. CONCORDIA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY. Concordia Theological Seminary, on JeffersonAvenue, N. W. corner of Winnebago Street, wasfounded in 1839, ^t Altenburg, Missouri, where itwas conducted in a log hut, constructed by thefirst faculty of the College. In 1849 i^ was movedto Saint Louis, and in 1882 the present $150, was erected. It is in modern Gothic style,of red pressed brick and sandstone trimmings. Among the art pieces in this school is a paint-ing Martin Luther by F. W. Wehle, the gift ofthe artist; a bust of Dr. C. F. W. Walther, one ofthe founders, and the first President of the Semi-nary, the gift of C. F. G. Meyer (deceased) ofSaint Louis; a monument of Martin Luther, bronze,nine feet high on granite pedestal.
