Cucumber mosaic virus particles. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) showing a number of particles (virions, round, green) of the cucumber mosaic virus (CMV, Cucumovirus sp.). The particles' gentic material (RNA, ribonucleic acid) can be seen (RED). CMV attacks a large variety of vegetables and other plants, making it a common agricultural and garden disease. Symptoms depend on the type of plant affected, making it difficult to diagnose. The most common symptoms are mottling of leaves or flowers, and stunting or yellowing of entire plants.
