Belgian fishermen on horseback wading out into the North Sea for a traditional form of shrimp fishing, Oostduinkerke, Belgium.


In this traditional form of shrimp fishing, fishermen ride horses hauling a net out to sea to catch shrimp near the coast town of Oostduinkerke. Men in bright yellow overalls ride their plodding horses across the sands into the North Sea at low tide to trawl for shrimps, as their forefathers have done for more than 500 Belgian horse, Belgian Heavy Horse, Brabançon, or Brabant is a draft horse breed which comes from the West-Brabantian region of Belgium.
