Heysham 2 nuclear power station lit up at dusk. Located in Lancashire, England, this nuclear power station has two advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGRs), and began generating power in 1988. It has a capacity of 1250 megawatts (MW) of electrical power. The fuel is pellets of enriched uranium dioxide that produce heat by nuclear fission. The heat is used to turn water to steam. The steam drives turbines that generate electricity.
