The Dog of the Year. The dog of 1943 is Sinbad, the Sailor. Sinbad is attached to the Coast Guard Cutter Campbell. He was aboard the ship last winter when the Campbell had her epic fight with six German U-Boats in twelve hours. Sinbad is a permanent member of the crew and keeps his eye peeled on the convoy according the best Coast Guard tradition. At sea Sinbad takes life and his responsibilities pretty seriously. He follows the ship's routine rigidly, appears for inspections, answers calls to general quarters and goes ashore with regular liberty parties.
