MODEL RELEASED. Ultra-high vacuum nanoprobe. Researcher loading a sample into a UHV (ultra-high vacuum) nanoprobe machine. This machine uses four scanning tunnelling microscopes to ensure the precision placement of the sample, which can then be analysed at the nanometre scale. This allows micromechanical and nanotechnology devices to be precision-engineered and designed, inspected for defects, and tested. This UHV nanoprobe was manufactured by Omicron. Photographed at an INEX facility. INEX is a British microsystems and nanotechnology company that was founded in 2002.
