Some years ago creameries were every village, as well as the city of Bloom-ington, had one, but they all failed. Some twenty years ago some enterprising farm-ers of Mt. Hope Township took up the business,and now there are three firms at McLean largelyengaged in dairying. Besides their own herds,about 400 cows of various farmers contributetheir product to these several firms who buyof them. Snow & Palmer ship to Bloomington,where they have a very large city trade. Barnes& Tudor and Leach & Sou ship to Bloomington,Lincoln and Springfield. They all ship both milkand cream. It is a large business, employingmany hands and representing many thousandsof dollars. NORMAL TOWNSHIP. Perhaps there is no township in McLeanCounty so difficult of description for the histor-ian as the township of Normal. The south lineof the congressional township of Normal is atEmpire Street in the City of Bloomington. Thisstreet is south of the AYesleyan University, whichplaces that important institution, always recog-nized as being a part of Bloomington, within thetownship of Normal.
