Four Loco, 2010 In the 2000s, caffeinated alcoholic beverages, including Four Loko, grew in popularity, despite their role in alcohol-related behavioral problems. In 2010, the FDA issued warning letters to manufacturers of Four Loko and similar products for use of an unsafe food additive, after which shipments of these beverages ended.
