We have never seen a race in which there was rom first to last, snch a flnctnation of public opinion as in :he 2:24 class race. A rumor cam** from the Oakland track :bat the brother to Adonis had done a mile in 2:19£, but he vas generally regarded as a faint-hearted and unreliable colt, io that the general public did not touch him to any great es- ,ent.
