Nanorobot with blood cells, computer artwork. Nanorobots is a term used to describe future microscopic robots that could have a wide range of uses. The medical uses could include the targeted delivery of drugs. This nanorobot is an injector, containing a yellow liquid that it is injecting into a red blood cell using its needle tip. It is clinging to the cell with legs, like those of a spider. Red blood cells (erythrocytes) transport oxygen from the lungs to body cells and remove carbon dioxide for exhalation. They are the most abundant cell in the blood. They have no nucleus, and are about 7 micrometres in diameter. At lower left are white blood cells.
