Blue-Headed Gilia: Also called Blue Field Gilia (Gilia capitata), in the Phlox family, Polemoniaceae. Individual faintly blue flowers are 5 mm (3/16”) long and 1 mm diameter at the base, with a 5 mm upper spread. They form a 2 cm (3/4”) round ball, comprised of dark or pale blue flowers on tall erect stems with linear-lobed pinnate leaves. 15-90 cm (1/2 to 3’) tall. Leaves once or twice pinnately lobed. Very narrow and threadlike. Basal and alternate on stems, decreasing in size upwards.
