The alternating current switchboard, located inthe gallery, contains four generator panels, four feeder panels andthree rotary panels. A recording wattmeter is used in connectionwith the generator panels, each of which contains one ammeter foreach phase, one direct current ammeter for the exciting current,one volt meter, synchronizing plugs, one double-throw oil switchand one double-throw exciting switch. It may be mentioned herethat no separate exciters arc used in this plant, the alternators be-ing excited either from the battery or from the three-wire lightingcircuit. On the two panels for the alternators driven by the waterwheels are switches consisting of two push buttons. These areused for synchronizing and are connected with the Lombard gov-ernors, so that by pushing one button the speed of the water wheelsis reduced and by pushing the other button the speed is of the three rotary panels contains a power factor indicator,one
