Chemistry experiment. Hand pouring vinegar onto baking soda (sodium hydrogen carbonate, NaHCO3). Vinegar is a solution of ethanoic acid (CH3COOH). These two household chemicals react to form sodium ethanoate, carbon dioxide and water. The equation for the reaction is: NaHCO3 + CH3COOH ---> CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O
