23/08/13 Tony Maggs, 62, uses a 'smoker' to subdue his bees before inspecting a hive surrounded by heather at a secret location in the Peak District. After their purple patch at the beginning of the year, Britain's bee populations have been given a boost by the hot weather. "In March the bees were at an all time low, but we've all been busy over the summer re-stocking and building strong colonies. The hot summer has really helped the bees and I'm extremely optimistic for the next few months ahead. "This time last year things were very bad. Hives were struggling after a bad summer and then we had that terribly cold winter", said Tony. All Rights Reserved - F Stop Press. Tel: +44 (0)1335 300098 Copyrighted Image.
