It hasa long close pile, and is chiefly woven in floral devices. Tapestry worked by the needle, as illustrated in Fig. 753,differs but slightly from Embroidery. The stitches aremade to lie close together, so that no portion of thefoundation is visible, and each stitch is worked overonly one cord of the foundation. The Stitches are Tentand Satin Stitch, with the outlines of the design followedby a gold thread, Couched to the surface.
