SNOEZELEN & AUTISM
Reportage in a snoezelen room in a residency that houses adult autists in Liège. Rémy, 40, moves around in this multi-sensory environment, which is both soothing and stimulating. He is accompanied by Chantal, a specialised snoezelen enabling practitioner. These snoezelen rooms allow autistic people to develop other means of communication, and to create a privileged relationship with the carer as well as stimulating the senses. This padded snoezelen room is entirely white and allows calm to return. It also means the enabling practitioners don't have to intervene in the case of a violent fit.
