= Russian Helicopters Flying Between Spasskaya Tower and St. Basil’s = Russian helicopters fly above Red Square, between Spasskaya (Savior’s) Tower of Moscow Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral, opening aviation part of the Victory Day parade on May 9th, 2018, marking the 73rd anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany in 1945. The leader of the air fly past column is Mi-26 (Halo), the Soviet/Russian heavy transport helicopter (the largest and most powerful helicopter anywhere in the world); next is row of four Mi-8 (Hip), the medium multirole helicopters operated in more than 50 countries; next is row of four Mi-28 (Havoc), the Russian all-weather, day-night, military tandem, two-seat anti-armor attack helicopters from aerobatic team Berkuts; and the last row appearing far away (little visible from far distance) are four Ka-52 "Alligator" (Hokum B), single-seat Russian attack helicopters with the distinctive coaxial rotor system. The aviation part of the parade included 73 aircraft total to match the number of "victorious" years since Victory over Nazism. Photo #079 taken on May 09, 2018 ©2018 by Arthur Lookyanov
