Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, UK. 10th Feb, 2014. Environment Agency staff use an ARC (Acoustic Remote Control) boat to assess the volume and speed of flow of the River Thames at Kingston Upon Thames. One person controls the boat by radio control and the other monitors data on a laptop. The ARC boats contain monitoring equipment which relays the data to a laptop on land. Measurements are taken from the river bed 4-times to gain accurate readings. At the speed of flow of the river was metres a second, the volume was 476 cubic meters a second.
