The Westinghouse Company recommends thisequipment for city service for the operation of either single ordouble-truck cars of any size up to 35 or 40 feet over all, andweighing, without equipment or load, from 23,000 to 30,000pounds. As previously stated, the car under consideration hada gross w^eight, without load, of 24,665 pounds. The manu-facturers further state that in city service, with runs averaging i2 ELECTRIC RAILWAY TEST COMMISSION. The gear ratio on the car tested was 18 to 64, and the lengthof run averaged 790 feet, or about of a mile.
