The beams are rectangular, by 2-in. in crosssection, 19-in. long and are made of niclcel steel. The bloclcsat the ends of the beams are 5 x 2 x and are of thesame material. Two 3/4-in. bolts through the ends of the beamshold the instrument together and when firmly tightened provide aslight restraint at the ends of the beams. The Mies dial reads. 9 Fi3 12.
