Various Notes. Oi-in Smith, of Pawtucket, has been spending a few days' vacation at Point Judith. M. Koppelman, who was operated on at the Boston hospital a couple of weeks ago, is in a dangerous condition. S. Toher has given up the florists' business to become a member of the Providence police force. Miss Nellie O'Connor, of Thayer street, received a large shipment of palms, ferns, decorative plants and fancy baskets from Philadelphia last week, S. S. Skidelsky, of Philadelphia, was a visitor last week. Macnair has adopted the service of uniformed boys for liis deliveries. The boys wear trim suits of dark blue, with the name "Macnair" in^ gold letters on the collar of the coat and on the front of the cap, William, Williams, a member of the state board of agriculture, died a few days ago at his home in Bristol, after an illness of about ten days. He was in his ninetieth year. John J. Johnston, of Johnston Bros., has been appointed a member of the committee for Ehode Island to get sub- scriptions for the national publicity campaign. Other members are George L. Stillman, of Westerly, chairman; Eobert M, Lamont, of Quidnick, and Laurence Hay, of East Providence. Edward J. Johnston, who has been at the greenhouses of Johnston Bros., now is assisting at the store on Dor- rance street.
